Buickerman said organizers indicated they would return to host the event if at least 1,500 seats were sold; he said his target was 2,000 seats and that the festival would run roughly 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. with a substantial hotel-room need for performers, crew and out-of-town attendees.
Buickerman named prospective acts (including Neil McCoy and Frank Ray) and said he had already committed significant local sponsorship to underwrite the festival. Committee members and attendees discussed the potential economic impact but did not resolve outstanding questions about logistics or city support.
On a motion to table, the committee voted to delay action on the CountryFest application until its December meeting to allow organizers to provide additional details and fundraising plans. The committee’s motion to table was moved by Jason and seconded by LaRue and was approved by voice vote.
