Norwalk — The Norwalk City Planning Commission approved a proposal to rebuild an existing seawall at 8 Golden Court after staff reported state and federal approvals.
Brian (staff) told the commission the applicant had obtained permits from the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the seawall reconstruction. ‘‘So that's essentially what they're asking for is just to rebuild the existing seawall,’’ Brian said.
Commissioners asked no substantive technical questions and the commission moved to approval. Commissioner Darius moved the motion; Tammy seconded, and the commission carried it on a roll-call vote.
No specific mitigation, construction timing or bond details were discussed on the record; staff stated the approvals by DEP and the Army Corps address regulatory permitting for coastal work and that the commission’s role was limited to the local site-plan consistency review.
The approval clears the way for the applicant to proceed with construction subject to compliance with the state and federal permits and standard city permit conditions.
