Deanna D'Amour welcomed new Board member Anthony Santella and reviewed ongoing discussions with city officials about the health department operating budget. She said increased duties — notably lead‑poisoning work and related control efforts — require additional staffing and that staffing levels will be affected by state statutory changes beginning Jan. 1.
Deanna said she will continue to advocate for needed resources during the budget process. She also updated the board on Medicaid redesign discussions: the Connecticut Hospital Association has met with community coalitions to propose upstream funding for community coalition work, and the Department of Social Services is expected to release a Medicaid report early next year. The health department will continue to monitor proposals and report developments.
The board had no further items and the chair adjourned the meeting with holiday greetings.
