Norwalk fire officials outline station renovation timelines and Jan. 1 records‑management rollout

Assistant Chief Conte updated the board on facilities work and software modernization at the Dec. 17 meeting. He said Station 3 received a poured apparatus floor that requires the normal 28‑day concrete curing process and that crews will perform renovations while the building is unoccupied. Station 1 design work is in place but will wait until Station 3 is completed to avoid disrupting multiple houses at once. Conte said a cost analysis for Station 4 is complete and staff are finalizing submittals for the renovation.
Conte told commissioners that overhead door replacements are on order but delayed by supply‑chain backorders; he added that all existing doors remain operational. The chair asked to receive the final Station 4 cost breakdown, and Conte agreed to forward it.
On records modernization, Conte said the department will go live with upgraded record-management software on Jan. 1. "We've been through the training the last couple the whole department's been through the training the last couple weeks," he said, adding that staff are continuing to add equipment and data and that the system will be a work in progress.
No new project budgets or contract awards were presented at the meeting; Conte said he would provide the requested cost breakdown for Station 4 to the chair and chief of staff for follow-up.
