Board adopts resolution to vacate portion of Hunter Road in Livingston area

At a March 11 public hearing the Merced County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution to vacate a portion of Hunter Road in the Livingston area (approximately one-eighth of a mile, ~660 feet). Public Works Director Nathan Bray told the board the subject segment currently dead-ends into a parcel being developed and that staff concluded the road is not needed for general circulation and that the action would be consistent with the Merced County General Plan. Staff also said the vacation would be exempt from CEQA under the cited exemption sections.
No members of the public offered comment during the hearing. After opening and closing the public hearing, a motion was made and seconded to find the proposed vacation exempt from CEQA and to adopt the resolution vacating the described portion of Hunter Road. The board voted and the motion carried.
Staff said the county had been approached by property owners developing the parcel who wished to limit public access and install a gate. Public Works will implement the resolution and follow standard procedures for road vacations, including notifying adjacent property owners and updating county records.
