Merced County board approves consent items, appointments and routine department measures

The Merced County Board of Supervisors on Feb. 18 unanimously approved a series of routine actions, including the consent calendar and multiple department items.
Board members approved Consent Agenda items 1 through 6, with Supervisor McDaniel thanking grant writer Patty Dessetti for work on the Franklin Beachwood Park Phase 1 transfer. The motion to approve the consent calendar was made by Supervisor Silvera and seconded by Supervisor Pacheco; the motion carried unanimously.
Among the items the board approved were Sheriff's Office Items 11 and 12; Auditor-Controller Items 13 and 14; and Treasury-Tax Collector Item 15. Board Appointments (Item 17) were also approved following no public comment.
A naming resolution for the spring-fair Livestock Pavilion (Item 8) was highlighted by Supervisor Silvera and approved; the facility will be named the Morning Star Packing Company Livestock Pavilion in recognition of a donation and planned improvements.
The board held each vote by oral motion and recorded the outcomes as passed by voice vote. No measures failed or were tabled on Feb. 18. The meeting adjourned to closed session and staff were given direction on the closed-session item that had been listed at the start of the meeting.
