Mariposa County supervisors voted April 8 to streamline the county style guide, removing an unused 'M' logo from active materials, keeping the county seal and emblem, and formally adopting Calibri as the county's primary digital font to meet ADA standards.
Public Information Officer Jean Hegley presented the proposal, saying many departments do not use some elements of the existing 2019 style guide and that requiring board approval for small template adjustments creates unnecessary staff work. Hegley proposed a one-page quick style sheet for staff, a longer brand design guide for professional design uses, and delegating routine template and minor style edits to the PIO and CAO. She said the board would still approve any major brand changes — changes to the seal, emblem, colors, standard font, or taglines.
One public commenter asked whether public input would be used for any rebranding; Hegley replied that public engagement would be sought for any substantive rebranding in the future and that the current changes are operational tweaks rather than a full rebrand. After brief board discussion the motion to approve the recommended changes passed unanimously.
