Planning Commission OKs 6-year extension for Kathy’s Valley subdivision

The Mariposa County Planning Commission voted April 4 to grant the applicant a six-year time extension for a previously approved major subdivision in Kathy’s Valley, moving the project approval expiration to Sept. 24, 2030.
Planning Director Steve told the commission the request does not change the approved subdivision layout or conditions of approval; rather, it allows additional time for the applicant to meet those conditions and record the final map. Staff recommended approval after reviewing the project record and concluded the prior mitigated negative declaration remains applicable and that the extension would not trigger further CEQA review under Guidelines §15162.
A nearby resident and contractor spoke in public comment in support of the extension, saying local housing activity and adjacent new homes provide momentum and that the applicant was not seeking substantive changes. No members of the public spoke in opposition during the hearing.
Commissioner (speaker 4) moved to approve the six-year extension and Commissioner (speaker 2) seconded. The chair called the vote and the motion carried; minutes recorded the action as approved.
The extension does not authorize any changes to the project’s approved conditions or map. Any subsequent changes to the project would require formal amendment and any additional environmental review as required by CEQA.
