Unidentified Speaker 1 opened the session "pursuant to Senate rule 1.101," and Unidentified Speaker 2 read a series of communications for the record from the Office of the Auditor General and the governor's office. The auditor general communications announced performance audit reports on the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity) and on three Michigan Department of Corrections facilities: Baraga Correctional Facility, the Richard A. Hanlon Correctional Facility and Ionia Correctional Facility. Unidentified Speaker 1 referred those audit reports to the committee on oversight for further consideration.
The chamber also recorded messages from Governor Gretchen Whitmer listing Executive Orders 20252 (declaration of a state of emergency), 20253 (amendment to that declaration), 20254 (suspension of motor-carrier rules during the state of emergency) and 20255 (amended suspension of motor-carrier rules). Unidentified Speaker 1 announced there was an absence of a quorum pursuant to Senate rule 3.104 and joint rule 15 and set the Senate to stand adjourned until Wednesday, April 9 at 10:00 a.m. The session closed with the floor statement, "The Senate is now adjourned."
