Pamela Dancy asked for an update on a reported $345,000 contractor/investigation matter and whether subpoenas have been issued; she also asked whether planned roadway work entering Freeport is a county or state responsibility and when TxDOT would perform the work in 2025. Staff later confirmed the work is TxDOT’s responsibility and indicated it is scheduled in 2025.
Jasenia Cardenas described repeated incidents of vehicles blocking her driveway during school drop-off/pick-up near West Tenth Street. She said she has contacted the Freeport Police Department and BISD and asked the city and school to coordinate short-term traffic direction until the school-zone routing stabilizes to prevent near-miss crashes and driveway blockage.

No formal council action was taken during this meeting to change contracts or implement traffic enforcement, though staff and council members discussed following up. Residents stated they would return to future meetings until issues are resolved.
