The Freeport Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a replat for Lots 19'21 of Block 800 in the Velasco Town Site on a motion made by Mister Sakamano and seconded by Mister Hayes.
Applicant Miss Stumbaugh told the commission she had surveyed her homesteaded property on Avenue G and "respectfully request[ed] that you approve my replat" and that the plats were prepared and ready to be signed.
During public comment, resident Solange McGee, who identified her address as 827 County Road 432, said stormwater from behind the Dollar General flows onto her property during heavy rains and asked what provisions could prevent similar problems with future development. "The water comes down on my property, and when we have some heavy rains, I cannot go over because it's all wet," McGee said.
Commission staff said they could not speak to the specific Dollar General parcel cited by McGee and noted that retention is not required for residential development in the context discussed. The chair acknowledged McGee's comment and said it would be considered, and the commission proceeded to a vote.
Mister Sakamano moved to approve the replat; Mister Hayes seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
No ordinances or statutes were cited during the discussion. The commission did not specify additional drainage controls tied to this replat on the record. The hearing opened at 6:01 p.m. and the vote followed the public comment period.
