Mount Pleasant city staff recommended canceling the council's scheduled Dec. 3 meeting because the short week around Thanksgiving left no items that could not wait until the Dec. 17 meeting. The council approved the cancellation by voice vote.
Staff recommendation: A staff representative told the council that, after reviewing the agenda for Dec. 3, there were no items that needed to be presented that week and proposed moving routine business to Dec. 17. "We are proposing that you cancel the December 3 City Council meeting, and then we'll bring you the normal regular business on December 17," the staff member said.
Council action: Councilperson Corbel moved to cancel the Dec. 3 meeting; Councilperson Hageman seconded the motion. The presiding official called a voice vote and the motion carried; the transcript registers multiple 'Aye' responses. Staff then closed with well-wishes for the holiday and the meeting adjourned.
Next step: The council will not meet on Dec. 3; regular business will be on Dec. 17.
