Staff and the applicant described moving the tower from an initially proposed location closer to residences to a site behind the planned fire station and adjacent parking, a placement the presenters said reduces residential visibility and locates the tower near essential emergency infrastructure. Presenters said the fire station will help buffer the tower site, that Verizon (and technical consultants) worked with city staff and the city manager on the location, and that some ancillary equipment (generators) would be sited behind the station. Council members asked questions about placement and thanked staff for working with residents and the applicant. A motion approving the permit subject to final legal review was made, seconded and carried unanimously.
Council directed staff to continue coordination with the city manager and public‑safety departments to ensure the tower meets both service needs for the fire station and regulatory/legal requirements before finalization.
