Veronica Perry Perez of Angels of Love thanked the city for the recognition and said the proclamation "is a critical step toward fostering a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered." A representative of the Hidalgo County District Attorney's Office described ongoing coordination among the DA's office, county task forces and local nonprofits, and said, "Our office alone, last year, we serviced over 10,000 victims of domestic violence in our county," and cited national- and local-level call volumes and fatalities as context for the issue.
Speakers emphasized training and cross-agency coordination.
