The Yuma County Board of Supervisors used its April 7 meeting to adopt routine business, make proclamations and honor county employees.
The board approved the consent calendar (items 1 through 16) by motion after a recusal was noted for item 6; the voice vote carried. The board declared April 2025 to be County Government Month and Library Week; Ashley Jones, library director, and Oscar Chavez, human-resources representative, accepted the proclamations and outlined upcoming surveys and employee-appreciation events. The board also proclaimed April 7 13 as Public Health Week and April 6 12 as Victims' Rights Week; Diana Gomez (Public Health Director) and Sonia Salcedo (victim-services coordinator) described department programs and community events.
Human Resources presented the first ULEAD (Yuma County Leadership Empowerment and Development) cohort graduation; Nayeli Flores and graduates described a nine-month curriculum, mentorship and project work aimed at succession planning. The board also introduced nominees for the 2025 Yuma County Employee of the Year and Safety Excellence awards and invited the public to the annual recognition ceremony on April 16.
During the call to the public residents voiced concerns ranging from the Highway 95 visual corridor to local election-administration errors and access to planning records online; the board asked staff to follow up on records access requests.
