The Select Board flagged the transfer station bathroom and safety equipment as a top priority and reviewed architectural concepts and cost estimates for additional site improvements, including a truck scale and a new recycling/workspace building.
Board members said an architect has provided conceptual plans and Sanborn Head was asked to prepare cost estimates. The scale hardware was quoted at $60,000; concrete work and wiring were estimated at an additional $50,000–$60,000, producing a planning-level cost of roughly $120,000 for a 40-foot truck scale.
Residents and public commenters urged expedited bathroom installation and a compliant eyewash/shower for employees. Maureen Diamond said she was “absolutely mortified” that transfer-station employees had worked without permanent restroom and eyewash facilities and urged a quick solution.
The board also moved through several routine financial approvals: payroll was approved at $58,949.47, and accounts payable totaling $359,522.90 were approved by roll-call (3–0). The transcript identifies a large school payment of $306,126 and a retirement fund payment of $12,000 among warrant items.
The town will pursue NRRA consultation for recycling operations and obtain cost estimates and bid documents for the scale and building options; the board signaled a goal of making major decisions this year for construction next year.
Next steps: procure cost estimates from Sanborn Head and other vendors, evaluate NRRA recommendations at the next meetings, and prioritize a bathroom/eyewash installation at the transfer station.
