Selectboard accepts $9,464 Highway Safety grant for police enforcement equipment

Chief Littlefield presented approved state highway-safety grants and requested the Selectboard accept the grant terms and record them in the minutes. Chief Littlefield explained the grants are reimbursable and described the reimbursement/match process for overtime, cruiser use and equipment.
"It's a reimbursable grant," Chief Littlefield said, noting two equipment purchases are reimbursed at 75% and that overtime and associated benefits are eligible under the speed-enforcement portion. "Once that gets signed here, it goes to the AD's office and they sign it, and okay us to spend at this point."
A motion was made and seconded to accept the Tamworth Police Department Highway Safety grant, agreement number 25-181, in the amount of $9,464, with grant completion on or before Sept. 30, 2025. The board approved the motion on a roll-call vote.
Chief Littlefield also noted the grant package will likely be amended to add printer equipment for cruisers to support the state's e-citation system; that addendum would return to the board for reapproval.
The Selectboard recorded the vote in the meeting minutes and confirmed that citation funds flow to the state while penalty-assessment-fee funds remain available per established town accounts.
