Council expands Manor Youth Advisory Commission eligibility to grades 8–10
Summary

The Manor City Council approved Resolution No. 2024‑37 to amend the eligibility criteria for the Manor Youth Advisory Commission, expanding eligibility from grades 11–12 to include students in grades 8–10.
City staff member Yolandra Valderrama said the change will enable the city to appoint enough student commissioners (she reported there were 10 students interested) and allow students to participate sooner, including attending the TML youth conference if they meet selection deadlines. Councilmembers voiced support for giving younger students experience and for retention across grade levels.
Council moved and approved the resolution to change eligibility criteria. Staff noted they must appoint commissioners before the application deadline to allow attendance at upcoming conferences.
