Council approves Ring Drive sidewalk contract to fill pedestrian gaps near FM 973 and Walmart

Manor City Council on Dec. 18 approved a construction agreement, not to exceed $63,600, with Forsyth Brothers Infrastructure LLC to install sidewalks on Ring Drive to improve pedestrian safety.
Public Works Director Matt Woodard told council staff identified two gaps that need sidewalks: a 270-foot section to connect existing sidewalks near the 973 Domain Pros apartments (to be 8 feet wide) and a 509-foot section between 973 and Walmart (to be 5 feet wide). Woodard said many pedestrians currently walk in mud or along unpaved edges and that the project will provide continuous, safer pedestrian routes.
A council member asked whether a crosswalk button exists at the adjacent light; staff replied no and said the city would coordinate with TxDOT if a signal push-button or other crossing feature were required. The motion to approve the contract and authorize the city manager to execute it carried on a voice vote.
The contract includes standard construction-agreement terms and sets the maximum expenditure at $63,600. Staff will return with scheduling details and any required coordination with TxDOT for crosswalk or signal modifications.
