Council members reviewed recently installed nautical bollards along State Highway 146's corridor and instructed staff to request that TxDOT install the bollards in the original black specification.
Staff reported the landscape architect—s bidding specification called for black bollards, but the installed bollards appeared silver. Council members expressed a preference for black for aesthetics and longevity; staff noted changing them back to black would be at no cost to the city, while any other color would incur additional expense. Concerns were also raised about a few bollards that appeared tilted and staff said they would address installation alignment with the contractor.
Outcome: By motion and unanimous voice agreement council instructed staff to ask TxDOT to install black bollards as originally specified and to follow up on installation alignment issues.
