Kennedale EDC hears pitch from CP2 Consultants; board oks further negotiation and chamber engagement

CP2 Consultants — represented by Christie Forte and Chelsea Petty — presented a one‑year consulting proposal to the Kennedale EDC aimed at retail recruitment, business retention and chamber revitalization.
Chelsea Petty said CP2 would focus on attracting retailers and helping keep local spending in Kennedale while protecting the city’s small‑town character. "We would be looking to create appropriate growth that creates more ways for people to keep the money in the city, while enhancing the small town sense of place that y'all have done so much to foster," she told the board.
Board members expressed general support for hiring a consultant to rebuild the chamber and pursue retailers; several members recommended a partnership model where the EDC initially funds the contract and the chamber assumes part of the cost as it rebuilds capacity. Staff indicated the proposed engagement term is one year with a 30‑day out clause for either party and that the contract would be brought back to the EDC and city council for final approval.
The EDC directed the city manager to continue negotiations with CP2, to coordinate with the Kennedale Chamber of Commerce leadership, and to return a recommended contract to the board and to city council as appropriate.
