Kennedale plans online business licensing and mobile reporting; Tyler ERP and MyCivic conversions under way

City staff gave a multipart operations update at the Kennedale City Council meeting on Nov. 19 covering business licensing, online customer-service tools, and software conversions.
Staff said the business-licensing module was added to the myGov platform and implementation is planned for January; the module will allow businesses and contractors to apply for and renew licenses online and can facilitate recurring annual registrations (for example, fire inspections). The presenter said the current ordinance requiring a business license would remain but that staff is discussing removing the fee when a new fee schedule is adopted; enforcement would be encouraged through outreach and the EDC/chamber promotion rather than immediate penalty-driven action.
The city also provided an update on the broader technology conversions. The Tyler ERP core financial module for general ledger and reporting is complete, and project accounting, fixed assets, and human-resources/payroll conversions are in progress with payroll expected to convert in March–April next year. A MyCivic mobile app that links to the myGov platform is in development, with a planned December launch for iPhone and Android; it will allow residents to report code violations, street repairs and other requests.
Finance staff noted that the city received a Government Finance Officers Association certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting — an award the presenter described as recognizing full disclosure and improved reporting practices. Council members asked operational questions about timing, penalties for non-registration and how the new systems will be used for public-safety and permitting workflows.
