The Eagle Pass City Council unanimously approved a procurement package for a new fleet of golf carts from Club Car LLC, including GPS/connectivity systems and a maintenance agreement to support 25 carts, at the city’s November special meeting.
Parks staff recommended replacing and expanding the existing 15‑cart fleet to 25 carts, citing demand on high‑traffic days and tournaments; staff also emphasized benefits of the Club Car connectivity package such as GPS tracking, geofencing (automatic shutdown off the cart path), remote locking for rule enforcement, fleet diagnostics and a 10‑inch touchscreen that could display messages or advertisements. The recommended package includes a maintenance service schedule (biweekly/quarterly service cadence proposed) to reduce downtime and ensure carts are available for rental.
Staff compared proposals from Club Car, Yamaha and Easy Go, and noted Club Car offered a middle price point with a feature set that matched city needs; Club Car’s connectivity features were cited as material advantages. The procurement motion to authorize the city manager to negotiate and execute agreements (amount not to exceed $185,000) passed unanimously after Councilwoman Cruz moved and Councilman Diaz seconded.
Staff said the fleet agreement will include options to govern cart speed, manage off‑path use, and provide sponsored content through the on‑cart screens to offset costs. The new fleet is expected to improve customer experience, tournament capacity and operational control at the municipal golf course.
