Resident tells Huntington Township it lacks ADA self‑evaluation; board says it will investigate

A member of the public told the Huntington Township board on Dec. 12 that the township appears to lack an Americans with Disabilities Act self‑evaluation and related upgrade records.
"I placed a right to know request for the ADA self evaluation... and I was surprised that this township has no information on this, no records," Speaker 7 said, and later asserted, "it's not compliant at all under the ADA." The commenter said municipalities were expected to complete ADA self‑evaluations in the 1990s and to update them periodically.
Speaker 1 acknowledged the request and said the township "is looking at and exploring what we need to do, if anything, to the township building to be ADA compliant." Speaker 1 also noted that the county manages elections, not the township, in response to a concern about access for voters who use wheelchairs.
The public commenter filed the right‑to‑know request on Nov. 14 seeking the ADA self‑evaluation and related records. The board did not report a formal determination of compliance during the meeting and did not adopt a specific timeline for remediation; staff indicated they would review the records and next steps.
