HUNTINGTON TWP. — Supervisors voted to buy a new township truck, approving a Peterbilt chassis with a US Municipal body after examining quotes from multiple vendors.
Roadmaster Chuck (Speaker 5) presented quotes from vendors including Peterbilt, International and body manufacturers (SEI, US Municipal). He described mechanical and body‑mount issues with the township’s older trucks and said the Peterbilt option offered a 4‑wheel‑drive configuration the township values for winter and heavy‑work use. Board members discussed prior warranty and service problems with an International chassis and said reliability and 4WD capability were deciding factors.
"So you're looking to write it right now $255,000," the roadmaster summarized while describing the combined chassis and body pricing; board members discussed whether ARP funds or the general fund would cover the purchase and noted that a formal funding decision would follow.
A motion to purchase the Peterbilt with a US Municipal body was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Board members indicated they will review funding options (including ARP money) before payment is finalized.
What's next: The road department will finalize vendor selection and financing details and report back to the board for appropriation and payment processing.
