EDC appoints Damon Collins as vice chair

The Manvel Economic Development Corporation board appointed Damon Collins as vice chair after a nomination and a unanimous vote.
The board opened nominations after Vice Chair Martina McNichols said she was stepping down from the vice chair role while remaining on the board. Robina Spruill volunteered; after additional discussion and Robina’s voluntary withdrawal, a motion was made to nominate Damon Collins for vice chair. The board approved the nomination 7 to 0; as recorded during the meeting, “Motion passes 7 to 0.”
Members framed the role as both an internal leadership post and a public-facing ambassadorship at chamber and community events. Board members said they would support whoever fills the role and help attend external events when the new vice chair is unavailable.
The appointment is effective immediately; board members noted that vice‑chair and other leadership appointments will be revisited when terms and reappointments occur in March.
