Council honors state-champion Wesley High Unified volleyball team and recognizes outgoing councilors

The Westerly Town Council read a proclamation congratulating the Wesley High School Unified volleyball team for winning the 2024 Wood Island Interscholastic League Division 3 championship on Nov. 16, defeating Punta Gansett 2-0 in the final. Councilor LaPietra read the team's roster and coaches and the council invited players, coaches and family members to come forward for photos.
The council also issued appreciation citations recognizing outgoing councilors Philip M. Overton Jr., Kevin J. Lothar (spelling per transcript), Joy L. Cordial and Robert L. Lombardo for their service to the town. The council extended thanks to town staff, assistant solicitors Robert E. Craven and Scott D. Levesque, judicial counsel and town public safety staff for their contributions to the community.
Those recognized were invited to accept citations at the dais and councilors offered brief remarks thanking staff and residents for support during their terms.
