Richmond swears in new members and elects Samantha Wilcox as council president

Several school committee and council members were sworn in during the meeting. Jessica Purcell and Karen Reynolds both affirmed the oath to support the U.S. and state constitutions and to observe the town charter and ordinances. Incoming town council members who took the oath included Mr. Hill Cox, Mark Reynolds, Jim Palmisano, Daniel Matnick and Jeffrey Denzevo.
Shortly after the swearing-in, councilors nominated the council president. Speaker 3 nominated Samantha Wilcox, citing her experience running meetings and community engagement; Speaker 11 seconded the nomination. After a short discussion and the close of nominations, council members approved Wilcox by voice vote. Wilcox responded, “I really appreciate it, and I look forward to working with you all.”
Councilors then nominated Mark Reynolds for vice president; the motion was seconded and Reynolds was elected by voice vote.
The meeting used voice votes for the leadership selections; no roll-call tallies were read aloud. Following the organizational business the council moved to adjourn.
