Lydia Webster, former president of the Rockingham County High School FFA chapter, told the board the chapter met National FFA Organization standards and highlighted activities that contributed to the award: an estimated 1,000+ volunteer hours across the year, a donation of 393 pounds of food to Rockingham Hope, and 30 books donated to local lending libraries. A four-person food science and technology Career Development Event (CDE) team placed third in the state out of roughly 90 teams; three team members placed among the top 20 individual competitors out of about 360 participants.
Board members and advisers (including Taylor Apple and Rosalina Webster) were thanked during the recognition; the board presented certificates and invited the group to take a photo.
What happens next: the board celebrated the chapter's success and encouraged continued participation; the recognition was ceremonial and required no board action.
