The City of Josephine convened a special meeting called to order at 4:00 and voted 3-0 to canvass and declare the results of the special election held Nov. 5, 2024.
The action came after roll call, when Unidentified Speaker 1 announced the meeting and outlined the first agenda item as "the official canvas of the city of Josephine special election held on 11/05/2024." Unidentified Speaker 2 then moved "to canvas be returned and declare the, the results," and Unidentified Speaker 1 seconded the motion.
The motion passed on a voice vote with the chair stating, "Motion carries 3 0." Those recorded present during roll call were Doug Ewing, Brad Allfinger and Gary Chapel; Mayor Tierney, Alex Esquivel and Dr. Pam Sardo were recorded as not present. The transcript notes the canvass document or ordinance will be adopted at the Dec. 9 council meeting.
After completing the canvass, Unidentified Speaker 2 moved to adjourn; Unidentified Speaker 1 seconded, and the chair closed the meeting.
The canvass is the council's formal step to certify the returns from the Nov. 5 special election; the minutes and the formal adoption of the canvass record are scheduled to be addressed at the Dec. 9 council meeting.
