Committee advances SB1612 to require procurement disclosures for AHCCCS contracts

Staff told the committee SB1612 would strike the current exemption for the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) from the Arizona procurement code. The bill would require disclosure of anything of value provided during the prior five years by officers, directors or family members of entities responding to RFPs or applying for government grants; it would prohibit state agencies and employees from destroying notes taken during evaluation of RFP responses and allow contracts agreed after the bill’s effective date to be resolicited if evaluation notes were destroyed.
Committee members recorded no public testimony; the roll call recorded Representative Perez and Representative Hernandez voting no and Representative Kessel, Vice Chairman Collin and Chairman Chaplitz voting aye, yielding a 3-2 do pass recommendation.
The committee’s recommendation advances the measure to the next legislative step.
