At its most recent meeting the North Smithfield Town Council confirmed a broad slate of appointments and reappointments to town boards and commissions. Councilmembers nominated and approved members for the Asset Management Commission, Budget Committee, Groundwater Protection Committee, Historic District Commission, Juvenile Hearing Board, Parks and Recreation Commission and others.
Notable actions included a five-year reappointment of Paul Nordstrom to the Asset Management Commission and nominations and approvals for members of the Groundwater Protection Committee (including Elizabeth Newberry, Cynthia Roberts, Carol Drainville and Leanne Gillette). The council also approved Parks and Recreation appointees submitted by the town administrator and moved to advertise several remaining vacancies.
Several items were tabled for further consideration: appointments to the Charter Review Committee and the Municipal Building Review Task Force were deferred until the council’s second January meeting to allow additional applicants and to narrow scope and membership.
The council conducted roll call votes for each appointment and recorded approvals.
