Committee members asked practical questions about the purchase: whether the district has certified operators, how often the machine would be used, transportation costs for moving the machine on a trailer, and whether buying was more cost-effective than contracting hourly services. One member noted the machine's approximate price range ($80,000-$85,000) and questioned whether district needs justify the investment.
A motion to award the material-handling equipment RFP was made in open session but "that item fails," the chair announced; no award was finalized. Directors said staff will return with additional information, including operator-certification plans and a clearer cost-usage analysis.
