Danny said the district has received a fence quote for the administration building "at $48,000 and change" and that HSI wall protection work on the third and fourth floors is a line item of roughly $229,000, not including outstanding corner pieces. He also noted a turf-maintenance contract beginning November 2024 and Chromebook-related invoices among consent items totaling $495,119.98.
The context: members questioned whether the fence is fully on district property or partly on adjacent parcels (Elmwood Dodge, McDonald’s/Volkswagen dealership) and whether funds from the high-school bond or general capital should cover replacements or elementary gates. Mr. Ferrera and others emphasized safety, noting camera alerts when students hop the fence and reports of students getting caught on fencing. Director Danny said staff would confirm property lines and follow up with neighbors and provide quotes to the committee.
Other project updates included Martin Middle School (phase 1 steel erection, concrete pours) and Riverside Middle School (completed media center, furniture installed, fire and building inspections passed), with staff reporting punch lists near completion. The district said it expects to move the middle school after Thanksgiving 2025 and complete the pre‑K portion of Martin by April 2027, with occupancy planned for fall 2027.
Members pressed for clear closeout numbers on the high-school bond and asked what happens to unapproved line items; finance staff said unspent or unapproved items would revert as the building committee closes out the project. Director of Finance Craig agreed to provide regular updates on the bond reimbursement process and final accounting.
