During the initial presentation the chair outlined three options—deny the application, continue the hearing to permit the applicant time to seek a special-use permit from zoning, or approve the license contingent on receiving that permit. The chair said he was "not a big fan" of issuing liquor permits before zoning review and urged the applicant to pursue the special-use process first.
The applicant’s representative said zoning paperwork had been filed that day; staff estimated the special-use-permit process at about four months. After discussion, a board member moved that the hearing be continued to Feb. 19, 2025, to allow zoning to act; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Next steps: the board will revisit the Spring House application after the zoning board has acted or when the applicant presents evidence that the special-use permit has been issued.
