New Shoreham council renews Miles Unlimited license for 34 mopeds at Lot 111

During open discussion, council member Speaker 6 presented the terms of the renewal motion, which as stated on the record would: "grant Miles Unlimited a license to rent about the 34 mopeds at Class6Lot111, pending receipt of registration numbers issued by the State of Rhode Island, vehicle identification numbers issued by the manufacturer and in accordance with the ordinances of the town of New Shoreham, with such license to expire 12/31/2025. Any lease agreement between a moped renter and the licensee shall include hours of operation, safety features, information regarding operation on improved roads, and the following language: the horn on the vehicle is a piece of equipment designed for emergency use and should be used only in this fashion." The motion language was taken from the staff presentation and read aloud by Speaker 6.
A motion was made, seconded and approved by voice vote; the meeting record shows the chair asked "All those in favor indicate by saying aye" and members responded "Aye." No roll-call tally or individually named votes were recorded in the transcript. The motion included conditions requiring the town receive state registration numbers and VINs before final license issuance.
Next steps: staff will verify receipt of the required registration numbers and vehicle identification numbers and complete the license paperwork consistent with town ordinances before issuing the license. The council did not record any amendments to the motion during discussion.
