Consultant Karen told the board that comments received at earlier meetings had been incorporated and that she believed the rules—drafted under the general prohibition section—would function as intended; she advised that if substantive changes were made the ordinance would benefit from being reorganized into its own code section similar to existing trailer regulations. The board discussed the allowable number of days temporary tent structures could remain erected and confirmed the working draft uses eight days for weekend retail use after staff updated the language.
The board also reviewed how the proposal aligns with the town’s comprehensive plan and, after brief discussion, the chair moved to forward the ordinance to the Town Council under its own section; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
What’s next: The town council will receive the Planning Board’s recommendation and the ordinance will proceed through the council’s legislative process, which will include additional public notice and deliberation.
