Council approves kiosks, trail signs and accessibility study for Scituate conservation projects

The Scituate Town Council voted to support several land-trust and conservation projects, awarding construction and signage contracts and approving preliminary authorizations to speed grant submissions.
Council awarded bid SCIT058 to Timber Homes Vermont for two trailhead kiosks and separately approved a $13,200 award for nine timber-frame trail signs to be installed at parks including Isaac Hopkins Park and Weskinag Meadows. Rob Bauer, chair of the Land Trust, told the council volunteers and DPW would help with installation.
Separately, the council authorized a request for quotes for accessibility trails and related improvements for the federally funded Isaac Hopkins Park reforestation project, a step required because projected project costs may exceed the town's $25,000 posting threshold for bids. The council also granted the Land Trust chair or vice chair limited signature authority for preliminary grant applications and land-acquisition documents that do not obligate town funds.
The council also approved a $20,000 ARPA matching grant request from the Scituate Preservation Society to finish lower-level renovations at its headquarters, noting the group has already spent approximately $91,381.72 on the project.
