Rob Bauer, chair of the Scituate Land Trust, told the council the joint group evaluated three bids and recommended Solitro based on experience, site visits and reference checks. Bauer emphasized the project is funded through a federal grant and "this is all grant money, no money spent by the town." He noted specification work with the engineer and options were included to stay under the remaining grant budget. The recommendation anticipates a five-foot-wide main trail with a narrower spur to a granite boulder area and includes opportunities to remove optional items (for example, solar on the composting restroom) if adjustments are necessary to remain within grant limits.
Council approved the recommendation; the presenter said DPW would assist with benches and signage and the project would proceed under the purchasing agent's authority to execute the required documents.
