The council adopted Resolution 2024‑40 after a staff presentation on proposed amendments to the planning department’s section of the master fee schedule. Planning staff recommended updating the city attorney cost‑recovery rate to $385 per hour to reflect a contract amendment for the Rennie Public Law Group; the prior rate was $375 per hour.
Director Helga (presenting) told the council the change reflects the contract amendment approved at the Nov. 12 council meeting and that staff does not anticipate a significant fiscal impact from the planning fee update. The new fee schedule would take effect 60 days from approval, on Feb. 7, 2025, if adopted that evening.
A councilmember noted a broader fee‑study is underway and that a more substantive set of user‑fee changes will come forward early next year after the consultant completes the cost‑of‑service analysis. The council voted to approve the resolution as presented.
Staff will implement the updated schedule and return with additional fee-study results to inform the FY 2025–26 budget process.
