Foster council accepts resignation, appoints new member to police‑station committee and tables land transfer

At its Sept. 12 meeting the Foster Town Council accepted a written resignation from Anthony J. Renzi from the police station building committee and moved to appoint Greg Smalley to the committee.
Renzi’s letter, read into the record, stated he was resigning after being asked by the council president to step down; the council accepted the resignation by voice vote. Greg Smalley submitted an email expressing interest and the council, after noting that Smalley had attended recent committee meetings and upon a committee recommendation (Gordon Brayton), appointed him to the police building committee by voice vote.
Separately, the council discussed a proposed transfer of land for lease related to a building project. Members said requirements and documentation were unclear; a motion was made and seconded to table the transfer to the Sept. 26 meeting to give staff and the council time to clarify the necessary steps and information.
The council also noted continued RFQ and design‑build review for the police station will proceed and that additional police building committee meetings are scheduled ahead of the Sept. 26 council agenda.
