Council approves victualing license for Dino's Park and Shop under new ownership

The Glocester Town Council on July 18 approved a victualing license for Donlin Supermarket Incorporated, d/b/a Dino's Park and Shop, after a public hearing on the proposed change in ownership.

Applicant Matthew D. introduced the company’s plan and said Donlin operates four stores in Massachusetts and will retain the current store manager and team at the Chepachet location. "We have 4 locations in Massachusetts," Matthew D. said, and told the council he intends to continue local vendor relationships and community sponsorships established by the prior owner.

Council members reviewed hearing notices and a sale date of July 23, 2024. The council heard no opposition during the public hearing. An unidentified council member moved to grant the license "contingent upon payment of all town taxes, building zoning approval as needed, fire and/or police approval as needed, current health department approval, current food manager certificate, and current Rhode Island permit to make sales," and specified that the license cover interior operations only and be transferable through Nov. 30, 2024. The motion was seconded and the council voted in favor; the presiding officer declared the motion passed and welcomed the new ownership.

What this means: with the contingencies met the business can operate food sales at 1020 Putnam Pike in Chepachet under the new ownership. The council vote does not itself verify that all required permits and certificates are already in hand; the license is conditioned on those items being current and on payment of town taxes.

Next steps: The license is subject to the listed approvals and permits. The applicant indicated the property sale is scheduled for July 23, 2024 and said the current store manager, Doug Kopeski, will be retained; council staff will confirm receipt of taxes and required approvals before finalizing licensing records.
