Organizers say Foster farmers' market had ‘really successful’ first full season

Foster — Organizers of the Shady Acres farmers' market reported to the Town Council on Nov. 14 that the market completed a successful first full season, drawing more traffic over time and providing space for local nonprofits and community groups.
"We had a really successful first full season at Shady Acres, and, I think, basically, traffic went up the whole time," said an unidentified market presenter (first speaking at the meeting), who thanked volunteers and said vendors and customers finished the season "really strong." The presenter listed partner organizations that tabled at the market, including the Lions Club, the Northern Rhode Island Conservation District and Safer Streets.
Council members praised the market as a community hub, noting it connected residents, visiting shoppers and local nonprofits; one council speaker said the market shows "people from out of state and other towns what Foster's all about." Organizers described goals beyond produce sales, such as providing a place for young families, music and community activities.
Councilors encouraged continued volunteer recruitment and noted opportunities for local civic groups to re-engage through market participation.
