Council approves two CDBG applications for road paving and housing rehab

The Coventry Town Council voted to submit two Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications: one for Quinick-area paving (about $520,000) and another for rehabilitating about 75–80 kitchens at Naughty Oak Village (about $850,000).
Town staff explained the Quinick item includes repaving 14 streets that have not been touched in over 20 years; the housing proposal would fund kitchen rehabilitation for dozens of units at the Coventry Housing Authority’s Naughty Oak property.
The council opened a public hearing and invited comments; no members of the public spoke on Zoom or in chambers during the allotted comment window. Council then moved and approved both resolutions by roll call (5–0). Staff noted that the town will submit the applications once the state opens the annual funding period for the road-paving application and that the housing rehab application can proceed with the current state program window.
Council members thanked staff for advancing the applications and for taking an earlier step to notify the public by advertising the projects for comment.
