Council authorizes signatures to pursue RIDOT municipal road and bridge funds

The Glocester Town Council on Oct. 17 authorized the town council president, the finance director and the town solicitor to sign the FY25 RIDOT Municipal Road and Bridge Program agreement that makes the town eligible for state funding.
A memo from the planner and DPW director described the program, which authorizes distributions for municipal roads, sidewalks and bridges. Glocester is eligible for $184,211 in state funds; the program requires a 67% local contribution and a 33% state contribution, meaning the town would need to provide a local match of $368,422 for a total estimated roadway investment of $552,633. Construction must be completed by Oct. 31, 2026. The DPW has already used prior RIDOT funds on several FY24 projects and presented potential candidate roads for FY25 funding.
A motion to authorize the town to sign the FY25 RIDOT agreement carried by voice vote.
