Board approves minutes, pays bills and hires three teachers in unanimous votes

The Nashville School District board approved routine items and personnel recommendations in its December meeting, voting unanimously on each motion.
Early in the meeting the board approved the minutes from the previous regular and special meetings following a motion by Speaker 3 and a second; the motion passed 5–0. The board then considered the financial report and approved payment of bills after Superintendent Graham reported the district is approximately 44.9% through the fiscal year with an operating balance of $7,266,014.
Graham also reported that after recent upgrades to the elementary and primary cafeterias the food service fund still carries an operating balance of $294,876 (previously a little over $600,000 when the upgrades were approved).
Under the superintendent’s personnel recommendations the board approved three hires: Britney Moore as an interim primary classroom teacher through the end of the academic year; Todd Ledford as coach and teacher for Nashville High School, with his contract to begin Jan. 7 and pay to start that semester; and Felicia Cheshire as a classroom teacher beginning next school year in August. Speaker 1 moved to approve the employment recommendations and the board voted 5–0 to carry the motion.
The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 5:30 p.m.
All motions on routine business and hires were approved unanimously.
