Nashville School District hires Brad Cheshire as head football coach

The Nashville School District board voted 5-0 at a special call meeting to hire Brad Cheshire as the district—s next head football coach, the board announced.

Superintendent Graham recommended Cheshire at the meeting, praising two other applicants, coach Brian Beard and Tyler Cliff, for strong preparation and interviews. Graham said Cheshire "has lived it, has embraced it, competed and won at a high level as a scrapper player, a scrapper coach," and cited Cheshire—s record, including three state championships.

Graham framed the hire as part of preserving the program—s tradition. He noted that when 2024 playoffs began, statewide coverage said the Nashville Scrappers had won more playoff games than any other Arkansas team, a total he cited as 91 wins and as evidence of the program—s long-standing standard.

After the recommendation, a board member moved to accept the superintendent—s recommendation and a second was recorded. The board voted "Carries five-zero," approving Cheshire—s hiring. The board also listed additional duties for Cheshire as assistant athletic director and teacher.

Board members welcomed Cheshire and an individual named Felicia, saying the community is "excited about the enthusiasm" they expect Cheshire to bring. Graham said the district plans to introduce Cheshire to the community Saturday night before the last game of the Bankers Classic, with a meet-and-greet planned between games at about 6:30–6:45 p.m.

The meeting was brief and focused solely on the personnel item; the board adjourned after the unanimous vote.
