Board approves minutes and payments, hears several routine reports

At its Oct. 21 meeting the board approved September minutes and payment of bills, heard an update on tennis courts and attendance comparisons, and received the superintendent's report on upcoming parent-teacher conferences.
The NASHVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT board convened Oct. 21 and approved routine items including the September meeting minutes and payment of bills by motion and voice vote.
S2 called the meeting to order and S3 moved to approve the September minutes; S4 seconded and the motion carried by a voice vote. Later the board moved to approve payment of payroll and other bills after S1 reviewed a budget spreadsheet noting an operating balance of $5,408,322; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
In old business, S1 reported the district has fencing and concrete in place at the tennis courts and is awaiting the installation of the court surface. In his superintendent report S1 also shared a first-nine-weeks attendance comparison for a primary campus showing 28 fewer absences in the first nine weeks of 2024 than in the same period in 2023. The board was reminded that parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for the following day from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
No new ordinances or formal policy adoptions were made during the meeting; most items were informational or routine approvals.
