The Nashville School District board gave approval for summer maintenance projects, a recurring student-supplies program, and several personnel changes at its June meeting.
Facilities: Mr. Graham reviewed summer projects to be mostly executed after July 1 and included replacement of worn high-school cafeteria carpet, repair/replacement of exterior drive/trim at the elementary school (bid $28,700), ceramic-tile repair in the dome, and hallway repainting at the primary building. He asked the board to allow the district to proceed and to include the work in the FY24–25 budget; the motion passed 3-0.
Supplies: Mr. Graham proposed committing $40,000 for K–6 student supplies (the fifth consecutive year of the program) so principals can list supplies in handbooks and reduce family out-of-pocket costs. The board approved the $40,000 commitment on a 3-0 vote.
Personnel and coaching pay: The board approved adjusting coaching stipends (raising the senior-high cheer sponsor's extra days from 15 to 25 to match other sponsor/assistant schedules) and passed the coaching schedule changes 3-0. The board accepted the resignation of Chris Morrow, high-school custodian, citing health reasons, and approved employment recommendations for Kaylee Adcock (speech therapist), Zach Hopkins (junior-high band director) and Haley Davis (primary teacher); each personnel action was approved 3-0.
District staff said coach recruiting is ongoing for one remaining vacancy and that most licensed positions are filled ahead of the school year.
Next steps include contracting vendors for summer projects, ordering supplies, and completing onboarding for new hires.
