Nashville School District approves $24.35 million 2024–25 budget

At its August meeting the Nashville School District Board voted unanimously to adopt the district’s 2024–25 budget, a plan that projects $24,352,960 in total revenue and preserves a multi‑fund cushion to address pay raises and capital needs.
Mister Graham presented the budget, saying the district began with a June 30 balance of $6,137,000 and expects local revenue of $5,889,391 and state revenue of $12,326,237. Expenditure highlights included $10,636,251 from the operating fund, $8,500,000 for the teachers salary fund (which Mr. Graham said contains a $5,000,000 cushion for potential raises or bonuses), and $715,500 in debt service. He projected a June 30, 2025 balance of about $4,501,208 under current assumptions.
"I recommend to the board that we approve this budget for the 2425 school year," Mister Graham said during the presentation. After a motion and second the board approved the budget by voice vote.
Graham told the board the district transferred $1.6 million to the building fund at the July meeting and expects to transfer additional funds later; he also noted the board may amend the budget if circumstances change. He emphasized the district’s intent to use available funds for students and staff, including a priority on improving teacher pay.
The board’s action adopted the budget as presented. No additional hearings or votes on the same budget were recorded during the meeting; the board may amend line items in future sessions if needed.
